Such a shame. .. food is great, but service is going down the drain. Unless you are a regular at the bar you are a nobody and good luck getting decent service!

Always awesome. .... I knew & worked with chef Michelle many years ago when she first came to Cincinnati. She cooked the chicken marsala for my wedding reception 15 years ago. What a blazing trail of awesome food and happy customers she has pleased since then. We had a large graduation party of about 30 people last August and what a fantastic job they did for all. From Hors d'oeuvre to desert just fantastic as usual!

Jag's is easily the best restaurant in west Chester in my opinion. The steaks are great if you're in one of the dining rooms. You can't beat the black and blue burger if you're in the lounge. Other favorites are the Caesar salad and the Camelot chicken for an app.

I chose Jag's for a family holiday dinner early on a Sunday evening. The reception was friendly, but our server was extremely meek and inattentive. As the restaurant was nowhere close to busy, it should not take 20 minutes after bringing the drinks to ask if we'd like an appetizer. The food in general was good, minus the hair in my crab bisque. I also received their house salad (Jaguar) along with my entree which was nothing worth mentioning. A member of my party asked if they could substitute the salad that came with the entree for another. She stated that there would be an upcharge and we agreed to that. Little did we know that we would be paying the full price of the entree with salad, plus another $5 for substituting. If we had known we'd be paying for nearly two salads, we would have kept to the house salad. The ambiance was pleasant, but I could have done without the cheesy 80s karaoke tunes. Next time I'm in the area, I'll jog on down 71 to Carlo & Johnny.

Good food, the sea bass just melted into mouth. The sauce on it was delicious. Gray atmosphere, pricy, but a great place for special occasions

Very good high end steakhouse. The greatest ever? Not really, but they get the job done quite well. The Kobe filet obviously is awesome, so is the raw bar platter. They usually have a bruschetta of the day, which makes a great appetizer. 9 times out of ten I go for the aged strip big Oscar, whoa! To be honest, Cincinnati is owned by Ruby's when it comes to high end steakhouses (rightfully so, it's the best in the country IMO), but if you find yourself in West Chester (my hometown), you can't beat the quality, and proximity. Watch out for the large pride of Cougars in the bar area! They'll getcha!

FAN-TAS-TIC... that's what I'll say about the meal... from start to finish each dish was DELISH.... started with wild mushroom bruschetta, followed by heirloom tomato-lioni mozzarella salad and had a filet mignon au poivre...and finished with a orange creamsicle dessert that was the ultimate finish to a decandant meal. The only reason I gave 4 stars versus 5 was due to the sub-par service. For such a fine dining establishment I would have expected far more attentive and knowledgeable servers. Perhaps our experience was just a fluke... I will definately be back for more...

The food is delicious and the four-course meal seemed to be a good deal, but the servers were setting the tables for the next day as my family and I were still eating. Dishes were clanking and rattling in the dining room that we were still eating in - we felt rushed, but overall a good expericence.

We love Jag's. Of course we always order steak and have never been let down. It is not your every day restaurant, a little on the pricey side but we go for special occasions.

Made my third visit to Jag's last week for a business dinner. The meal and the service were both phenomenal. This is a really neat restaurant with many different rooms from intimate to open and lively. The bar area is fantastic with live music most nights. The special that night was a petite filet mignon with crabmeat, asparagus and bernaise. The steak was cooked perfectly. Great wine list too! Super efficient, friendly, helpful service. I highly recommend a visit soon!

Attended a birthday party over the weekend. Sit down dinner for 50 people.... Food and service was awesome. Can not say enough good things about this restaurant. Needless to say the birthday person was totally surprised and all have memories to carry us a lifetime.... Wonderful.

We had a wonderful time at Jags last night. Service was excellent and the food was the best we have ever had. When ever you are in the Westchester area this restaurant must not be missed. A birthday party to remember.

While the food is excellent, the atmosphere and service should be held to a higher standard when you are paying $200+ for a dinner for 2. Upon arriving on time for our reservation, we waited over 20 minutes to be seated. Then it was another 30 minutes before the waitress took our dinner order, and another 25 minutes before the salad arrived. The table for 4 was small and tight. So small that when they added serving plates, you could not raise a wine glass without extracting its base from under the plate edge by turning the glass sideways! And so tight, one of our party was constantly being hit in the arm by passing servers and they had to add pepper to the salad of another diner over my head! With so many great restaurants in the city, including steak houses, this is not one I will be eager to re-visit. While steak was wonderfully prepared, the service and atmosphere detracted from a great dining experience. Maybe those in the suburbs don't want to venture downtown and are willing to put up with it?

We went for my 40th birthday dinner - love the atmosphere, the friendly staff, the cool elevated piano and the trendy, yet non-pretentious feel! (also, loved that the manager took time to chat with us!) I thought the menu was fantastic - pricing was fabulous (you, actually, get a side, vegetable AND salad with your entree!). Between the 4 of us, we got a variety of salads and variation of filets. :) I loved, loved the Caesar salad - the BEST caesar that I've ever had. Yes, in my whole life. I would go back for that alone! The house salad was pretty sad - my husband was jealous that he didn't upgrade to the Caesar. I got a filet with an added on piece of sea bass and a side of bearnaise. I wasn't a fan of the bearnaise. The sea bass, while cooked perfectly, needed something - spicy of some sort? And, the filet, well, it wasn't as good as Eddie Merlot's. Again, it was a filet, so it was good but...it wasn't the same grade of steak that I'm used to in fine dining. But, that goes back to the fabulous pricing. With that said - I thought it was a great meal and I'd, absolutely go back and I'd recommend it to anyone asking!

My friend and I stopped here last night for a bite and our meal was fantastic! The filet steak sandwich is absolutely delicious! The baguette it comes on is so fresh I can't remember the last time I had bread that tasted so good. The aioli on the sandwich is beautiful. The fried are crispy and come this fantastic yellow colored dipping sauce. I especially enjoyed the arugula salad. As a carnivore it is rare that I ever appreciate a salad but this salad was life changing. I love this place!!

YAS. I like. GOOOD. is all my brain can register. hey. five star service. hey. five star food. hey piano bar and gorgeous ambiance. I can't get over it! I had the riesling (yummy sweet). Filet Mignon and mash, the jaguar salad (dressing is out of bounds) and the creme brûlée for desert! You don't go here to experience innovation, necessarily, but for the great stand by 5-star service, food and ambiance...you can't go wrong here. You just can't. So Gentlemen, take your lady out for some elegance and class!

Went to Jags for a nice Dinner with my Wife. Overall, excellent evening. Steaks were cooked to perfection. I had the bone in filet with blackened scallops - excellent. The crab bisque was very tasty but a tad rich. My wife loved the cream brûlée dessert. If you're in the West Chester area it's a great option if you don't want the hassle of driving down town. The wait staff was attentive and appropriately engaging. The bar was packed as it is most nights I hear, which was too bad. It's nice to have a few cocktails before or after dinner but this is a popular local hangout so good luck finding a seat at or near the bar on a Friday night. Enjoy

Absolutely the most amazing hamburgers I have ever eaten. Jags totally kicks ass for hamburger week. If you are only going to one place, you better make it Jag's for hamburger week. We ate all 4 of them. WOW.

A high end steak joint that also has a nightlife lounge feel. Things started off on the wrong foot for me when they had all their free parking spots blocked to force you to valet. Yes, valet was only a few bucks, but it was a Tuesday night and it wasn't like they were only blocking a few spots in the front. Once in, we were greeted warmly and given the option of grabbing a drink in the lounge or being seated immediately. Since we were very hungry, we grabbed our seats, so I can only say the lounge appeared inviting. Our waiter described the specials and did not hesitate to grab our drink orders. I landed on the bûcheron filet. I wasn't sure how the bûcheron goat cheese was going to balance the steak, but had a steak with blue cheese elsewhere once and fell it love. The bûcheron goat cheese and the fried tomatoes indeed balanced the steak cooked exactly as I had ordered. The accompanying salad was a nice way to start and it was great to see the steak came with solid sides (potatoes & asparagus). By the end of the meal, Jag's had written off its poor start and earned itself a solid review and recommendation. Hopefully, they'll do something about parking to land itself top honors.

Wife and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary last Friday night. She had the bone in filet, she didn't like it, said it was too fatty. I had the cowboy rib eye, mine was delicious. We expected it to be pricey and had no problem paying. My complaints are as follows; first, our waitress who was friendly was spread too thin. We didn't see her nearly enough. Next, at least four times the manager came into the dining room to greet guests and ask how their meal was, he looked at us but never came over to talk to us. I mention the lack of managers greeting because it ties into my biggest complaint of the evening. About half way through dinner what I assume was a family was seated in the middle of the main dining room. The guy was wearing a NASCAR ball cap and sat through dinner with it on. This manager who couldn't be bothered to greet my wife and I took the time to speak to this family and of course said nothing to him about his ball cap! I get that we're in the Midwest and you have to expect a level of "red-neck" but Jags specifically mentions the dress code and says it will be strictly enforced. This family would have been better off eating at SteakNShake.. For $230.00 I don't think we're out of line expecting a higher end experience than Jags gave us. Try Stonecreek down the street for a higher end dining experience at about half the cost.

First, you better have money. This is not a cheap date. However, this is one place that is worth it. The food is delicious and is decently portioned. What was delightfully surprising was the lounge side with a piano in the bar. Also, later changing to a full band which made the night really exciting. It's not overbearing but it is exciting. Our waitress was also really great. Really helping us to make decisions on food and drinks. And now the drinks are made well. And they do fix you up on the mix. So, this is a really great place for a date or a good night.

Went for a dinner/presentation in a private dining room. It was the second time we'd been there. This time was better than the first time! The first time I had a steak and really was not impressed. This time I had the sea bass and it was moist and delicious. Hubby had the strip steak and it was cooked to perfection. The flavor was wonderful, seasoned perfectly. Both were served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Asparagus were cooked nicely, just til crisp. Potatoes were yummy as well. We also had salads to start - I guess I almost forgot to mention them because they were nothing to write home about. Pretty basic. Dessert made up for it though. I had the creme brulee; my husband, the chocolate torte. We enjoyed both very much. Reason for the one less star? Though the service was good- water glasses always filled promptly, efficient and professional service - she seemed a bit put off. Maybe did not enjoy serving in the private room? I don't know why. But she was not very friendly/personable.

We went for dinner and between the three of us ordered a steak, scallops, crab legs, and Chilean sea bass. The scallops had an unusual sauce akin to BBQ sauce which didn't go over well but everything else was good. For dessert I can't remember exactly what I ordered but i believe it was a brownie of some sort with a peanut butter gelato with peanut brittle. It was delicious. On the night we went, the restaurant was apparently hosting its first murder mystery dinner in a back room. I would love to check that out! Quality food and fun?! Yes, please.

Fantastic seafood! Some of the largest shrimp I've ever had. Along with the giant shrimp being served sans shell, the crab legs were served in a similar manner, no cracking or shelling. Main course was scallops, tender and full of flavor.

Went there on a Friday night expecting a wait, but we were seated immediately. That should have been our first clue. The bar area looked upbeat and busy, but we sat in the casual dining area. We started off with the crab cake and shrimp cocktail. This was the best part of the meal. The crab cake was amazing. I wish the main course lived up to the same standard. We got the salmon and halibut with the strip. Both fish entrees were nothing short of a chain restaurant item. They tasted bland not fresh. The steak was decent, but did not want decent for those prices at a place that should be known for their steak. We will not be coming back.

Jag's.... High priced ultra fine dining. Steaks that are cooked precisely to your desired doneness, and which melt under your fork and in your mouth. A fresh seafood selection worthy of a 5-star Manhattan restaurant. You will see this on ice, in a display case, right next to the hostess stand. They serve the kind of meals that the rich and famous probably enjoy on a regular basis, and us average Joes or Janes look forward to on a special occasion. Temperature and textures are perfection, presentations flawless. Creative and unique options for the vegetable and starch sides. Portion sizes are generous for this level of restaurant, you will be satisfied and maybe even have a bit left over to go. I've dined at Jag's probably five times over the past two years, including very recently and I'm confident in giving the food the highest possible marks. Jag's is divided and subdivided into many dining rooms and these divisions would appear to vary. We thought the hostess was not as polished and professional as she should be for a place like this. We were not asked if we had a seating preference, she just verified the number in the party and commanded us to follow her. We were taken to one of three tables in a pretty small room, a 4-top. The second table, also a 4 top was already occupied by another couple; the third was a table for 10, possibly 12, and very close to us. I said half joking that I hoped they weren't expecting a party of 12 anytime soon, and she responded that as a matter of fact they did have two parties coming in! After exchanging glances with my husband we asked to be seated in a different room, in the vicinity of smaller tables. This may be only my opinion, but in a place like this you want an intimate atmosphere for small talk, whether you're a couple or a foursome, over your meal, not being within spitting distance of an invariably loud party table. So you may want to ask to shown around a bit and make your own choice of available seating. Or if you make a reservation you might want to clarify what kind of seating you want. (We did this once when we took a VIP to dinner, and it worked out very well.) At least one room has a fireplace, if you are feeling extra romantic. Service is generally 4 star or better. There have been times, including this last, where there was room for improvement. The lounge...is swanky, elegant, and dark. Exudes a kind of high class mid 20th century feel. You could picture Frank Sinatra or Marilyn Monroe at the bar. During certain hours you can dine in there off the regular menu, and there is also a separate lounge menu of smaller plates. This is definitely not a hangout! What I don't like about the lounge is the strange setting of the stage for the nightly live entertainment. It is actually INSIDE the circular bar, level with the bar top. So if you are sitting at the bar looking straight ahead you see the performers' knees, basically. To me, it's weird. I think a lounge performer should be kind of off to one side of the joint, where you could saunter casually over, drop a bill in the tip cup and make a request. You could not do this here without a ladder. In fact this odd set up kept me away from Jag's for a long time; the first time we ever stopped in to check the place out, I was gazing at the magnificent seafood selection, when I turned to my left where you can see into the lounge. I realized I was on direct eye level with the rear view of a woman's thighs. For a moment I thought we'd wandered into a strip club or something, then I realized she was singing. But that was not the kind of view I cared for to accompany premium cocktails, so we beat it. All in all, I love Jag's for a phenomenal steak or surf n turf dinner, I just need to be sure I'm enjoying it in the most comfortable setting.

Experience started out bad. HALF of their parking is valet. Please, you are located in the suburbs, there is no reason to have valet. And certainly no reason to have 30 valet spots in a lot of 60. Parked at a Comfort Inn. Interior was nice. Sat on the dinner side, quiet and romantic dining. Menu has something for everyone. Equal parts steak and seafood. Prices are a little bit outrageous. 63$ for a half pound of King crab legs? Caesar Salads were good, +4$ to your entree. Wife ordered the Princess Filet. It was cooked perfectly. I had the bourbon Salmon. Left a bit to be desired. Couldn't really taste the "as advertised" glaze on fish. Service was good. Was quiet and let us enjoy our meal but very attentive to our table. Lots of reviews about dress code. Have to agree with the complaints. Camo Jean shorts should not be allowed in a place like this. If I'm paying 150$ for a romantic dinner for 2 , I prefer not to see dragon tattoos on someone's calf seated next to our table. I will likely not be returning and would not put it on a "Must Do" list.

I had a recent work event at Jags and my filet was absolutely delicious. Now I have to say I was not paying the tab, so I am sure that contributed to my experience. We had approximately 20 people in a private room. There was a choice of two steaks (filet and strip), sea bass and chicken. I had the filet medium rare and it was cooked superbly. My vegetable was asparagus that I thought could have been cooked a little longer. It was pretty crunchy. I don't want soggy asparagus, but it needed to be cooked slightly longer. We had a choice of three deserts and I thought they were all good. One thing I don't like about Jags is the parking. This was a Thursday night, it was not that busy and parking was at a premium. I would have parked at the bank next store but it was cold and there was a lot of snow on the ground. If you live in the northern suburbs this is the place for steak.

I only went one time and will probably never find myslef anywhere near West Chester Ohio again, but loved this steakhouse and wish there were one here in New York. It was truly just about the best steak I ever had. The place is simply beautiful, the service awesome, the food superb. I Love my steak med rare and it was perfect- AND substantial. The Caesar salad is so good- they make a reggiano parmesan crisp and place it at the bottom of the salad. omg. Unbelieveable. NY style cheesecake- huge slice and perfect! Will remember it fondly!

Let me start by saying the wait staff was great. My wife and I both had medium rare bone in ribeye both came out rare which we did not complain but they were not very tender, slightly chewy. For the price you pay, it should be perfection personified, not average.

My boyfriend and I had a reservation here for our anniversary. We were seated quickly. Our server was very helpful with suggestions for a wine to go with our dinner. I ordered the 6oz filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus medley. My boyfriend was interested in trying the day's special (a NY strip special) and was undecided between that and a filet, so the server suggested ordering a filet made as the special, so he decided to do that. My filet was absolutely perfect...medium-rare, and was cooked perfectly (didn't really even need a knife to cut it). And the garlic potatoes were the best I've ever had. My boyfriend said that his filet was the best steak he's ever eaten (a title previously held by a filet at Jeff Ruby's), and he even tried my garlic potatoes and liked them (he normally hates mashed potatoes of any kind). The service was outstanding, everything was perfectly timed, and the food was amazing. We definitely have a new favorite restaurant. My only complaint is that the parking lot seems very small for the amount of people there for dinner on the weekend.

Lounge - Bar tenders pour great drinks. I had a great time without getting plastered to the wall with over pours. We had dinner at the bar I had the filet it was incredible the bernaise was delicious. I loved the entertainment piano and then a band. We had a wonderful time. Thanks for such a great place to go locally. The only place to go for a beautiful time with your partner. I am 46

The meal I had at Jags was great, I have no complaints. The restaurant was clean, had good atmosphere, our server was attentive (and cute), there was a nice selection of beer, and the food was great. I had the strip steak w/ 2 huge diver scallops, jaguar salad, jumbo lump crab cake appetizer, and creme brulee for dessert. There was also live entertainment, a pianist that also sang. Unlike every other restaurant I've been in, the musician at Jag's was at a good volume for the restaurant, it wasn't overly loud and it did not detract from the conversation at my table. I would recommend to anyone that loves steak or seafood. A+

I live in NJ but I have to go to West Chester, for business, every 3 months and this restaurant is on my "HAVE to do list", every time I visit. This is, by far, my favorite steakhouse (and I've been to a few). They have a dining area and a separate dining / lounge / bar area. There is a performer in the bar / lounge area who either plays the piano or guitar and the food is AMAZING. I'm partial to their steak (it's mouth watering) but everything I've tried (on their menu), and I've tried a few things, is delicious!!! Even the bread is good (and I'm not a fan of bread). I love this restaurant. If I could give it 100 stars I would because I can't find anything wrong with it and it's that good. The drinks are good, the food is AMAZING, the service is impeccable, the portion sizes are perfect, and the entertainment is an awesome bonus. My only complaint is that there isn't one closer to home!! :-D

One of my favorite locations in the area to have a wonderful dinner in a great atmosphere. Their beef carpaccio is awesome and the sea bass with the steak is a must have. Wish I could have one of the liquor lockers at the front of the restaurant. Make sure to enjoy the piano player!

  • Doron K.

Awesome food and a cool atmosphere. Like the piano player and singer positioned in the middle of the bar area. Wish the restaurant wasnt so segmented though, lot of little rooms and areas that dont give you a sense of how many people are there. Other than that its great. Oysters were perfect!

MY First time to Jags (April 6) was an excellent culinary experience. The service was very good, although the server seemed to be inexperienced. The shrimp appetizer was great and the oysters were fantastic...super fresh. The wedge salad with blue cheese was among finest I've had. The porterhouse was delicious, cooked perfectly. The deserts were also top rated. I'll definitely be back... Great job Jags

Jag's is one my favorite restaurants in Northern Cincinnati. My husband and I came here for cocktails and dinner the other night and once again, we weren't disappointed. I had the sea scallops and they were perfectly cooked and utterly delicious. My husband's New York Strip cut through like butter. Awesome place to dine even if it's not a special occasion.

Dinner Feb 16 ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!!? I thought restaurants like this only existed in New York City or on TV. Decor is elegant and cozy. Wait staff is professional and extremely courteous. Food is off the charts! Bread & Butter: Bread comes in as soft warm rolls and the butter is seasoned, whipped and ready to spread - not frozen or too cold to spread. Ceaser Salad: Fresh shredded Parmesan Reggiano Cheese, just the right amount of dressing, fresh/homemade croutons, and accompanied by a Parmesan Cheese Crisp! WOW! Dinner: NY Strip Steak special - a huge and beautifully prepared piece of beef topped with sauteed onions & wild mushrooms in a Bearnaise Sauce. Oh yeah and just to make it even richer, they add Bousrin Cheese on top of it all...This was accompanied by Asparagus Spears that were cooked perfectly with a slight butter and garlic taste. AND if all that wasn't enough, it was also accompanied by a cup containing 3 homemade ravioli stuffed with Portabello Mushrooms in an incredible cream sauce. One of the top 5 meals of my life! (see picture) Dessert: Triple Layer Mousse Cake -- it was simply decadent! (see picture) EVERY dish I saw coming out of the kitchen looked like works of art! If you are serious about quality food and appreciate the art of cooking, spend the money and dine at Jag's !!

Came here for restaurant week. We got a reservation with no problem and were promptly seated when we got there. The atmosphere is wonderful with a nice homey feel with the fireplaces in each room. There was a lounge with a guy playing guitar and piano, but we weren't seated in there. For my three courses, I got the crab cake, the berry salad, and the scallops. The crab cakes tasted fine, but were on top of a fried red tomato, which was delicious. There was also a cream around the plate that complimented the crab cake well. Up next was the berry salad. I was surprised by how large of a portion they served. I'm not complaining, just pleasantly surprised. Anyways, the salad was good with different mixes of berries and walnuts along with the greens. 2 courses down, so far so good. The scallops came with pineapple rice and green beans. The green beans were fine with a little crunch in them. The rice's taste was overpowered by the pineapple and butter... It more just tasted like butter. The scallops were good with a dash of seasoning. The sauce with it had a little too much lemon for me, but overall it was good. My friend got the filet mignon. He said the cut of meat was great but the was over seasoned. The over seasoning seemed like the theme of the main dishes. They had a great start but just a little too much of something on each part. The service was fine and kept my water full. The only part that was bad was when they brought out the main courses before my friend had finished the salad. I would've expected for them to wait until we had finished each course before we started the next. Each course came out practically when we finished the one before it. Being that prompt was nice since we didn't have to wait, but we felt a little rushed. With a place this nice it'd been ok to take their time and have a few minutes between each course. I don't think I would come back. With its price, it would have to be a special occasion to come. With the main courses being over seasoned, its hard for me to want to come here on the special occasions instead of finding somewhere else.

Jag's really brings it all together. A beautiful building, the paneled maze of rooms with warming fireplaces and elegant lighting, the grand bar with entertainment, so the atmosphere is very well maintained. All of the food was really excellent, all of the food except for the steak. It didn't help that I had dined on incredibly tender steak only the night before at the Symphony, but this steak just wasn't up to par. Hardly juicy, and needed a real pull. I'm sure it's anomaly, but it happened.

Simply put this place brings art and deliciousness together thanks to the Executive Chef Michelle Brown's eclectic menu that offers an extensive list of sushi and sashimi, Yellowfin Tuna, Chilean Sea Bass and Alaskan King Crab, just a few of the many selections delivered fresh, every day. This great seafood is quite a compliment to the exclusive Kobe beef and Certified Angus Beef. My dad introduced me to this place for my 30th birthday and I have to admit from the valet to the server and everyone in between this place knows how to describe excellence and it shows with the 5 star attitude of each employee and the art they serve. The Kobe Filet and the amazingly fresh Alaskan King Crab legs make my taste buds water just typing this, lol.

We held one of our previous company Christmas dinners at Jag's several years ago and it was one of our very favorites, so we were really looking forward to returning. However, this year was a huge disappointment. Our entire staff arrived prior to our 5:00 seating but the hostess held everyone out in the lobby. When we were finally permitted to go to our room, the servers seemed irritated that we were late. They offered a very limited menu and rushed us through every course. Two waitresses were assigned to our party and both were incredibly impersonal and made all of us feel as though our being there was basically an irritation to them. Our company goes out of their way to treat their employees to a nice night out each Christmas and it was disappointing to know they spent so much money and were treated so poorly. I'm afraid I can no longer recommend Jag's and will encourage our employers to choose a restaurant with a more pleasant, service-oriented staff for our next event

Just finished eating here and it was quite delicious, with only one problem that was quickly resolved. Would highly recommend. Drinks: had a -dynamite- dirty vodka martini (Belvedere, always) with bleu cheese olives. I could have had several. Forgot to ask for it on the rocks. Appetizer: Mussels are delicious, as are the crab cakes. Some of the best mussels I've had. Soup: Lobster bisque is a signature dish there, but I found it rather salty. Main course: Got the princess cut filet (7 oz), medium rare. Was cold when I got it though. However it was replaced with a brand new one, and it was perfect and delicious. The onion/mushroom medley is good but not necessary. They have a great wine list! Overall, a very pleasurable experience. Worth checking out, especially for drinks and appetizers!

Jag's is one of the higher end restaurants in northern Cincinnati. The venue culture seems to favor 40-50 something's revisiting their youth and hunting for women in the lounge area, and the dining room is more of a 45-60 something area that needs to breath a little and stop taking everything so seriously.... Especially the dress code. There are several areas for break out rooms or small groups. The food here is really good for the area. I've had the filet mignon, scallops and crab cakes. All very good. Overall, a great food experience.

"This is without a doubt the best meal I've ever had." Jag's may be the best fine dining establishment in Cincinnati that isn't on anyone's radar by virtue of it having the word "Steak" in the title. This place deserves to be viewed and reviewed as a fine dining establishment and not simply as a steakhouse. In just a few years time Executive Chef Michelle Brown has transformed a menu that was once inflated in price and lacking in execution into one of the most refined culinary experiences in the area. This particular review covers the Friday Night Three Course Dinner for $99.95 deal (for two diners). Each diner selects an appetizer for the first course, a salad or soup for the second course, and an entree for the third course. One strip steak is also included to share between the two diners. The portion sizes ranged from "pleasant" to "very generous", so it's unlikely that unless you're dining with a Cincinnati Bengal offensive lineman that you'll walk away from this meal hungry. To the food... We chose the Crab Cake Napoleon and the Butternut Squash Ravioli for our appetizer options. The crab cakes are nicely seared and have a nice subtle crunchy exterior. The combination of the fried tomato and sauces (chili corn sauce and cilantro creme fraiche) compliment the crab cakes really well, adding flavor but not overpowering the crab. The perfect balance of "crab" and "cake". The real star for me though is the Butternut Squash Ravioli. OMG. The best part about this dish is that you can taste all of the ingredients, and yet they all meld so well that none of the ingredients stands out over the others. It's the Fall season encapsulated in a single bite. I've never been more pleasantly surprised than I was with this dish. We chose the Wild Mushroom Bisque and Strawberry Walnut Salad for our soup and salad. The Wild Mushroom Bisque is very nice - creamy enough lighten the fuller bodied mushroom flavor but not overwhelm it. The black pepper adds a sharp contrast to the smooth creaminess of the bisque. The pepper was a little overwhelming during certain bites due to the coarse nature of the pepper grains, but all in all it's just a very minor misgiving in an otherwise good dish. The Strawberry Walnut Salad is perfect. I LOVE the poppyseed dressing on this salad as it really brings out the flavor of the ingredients - particularly the strawberry and onion. Just a delight. The entrees were interesting. We chose the Alaskan Halibut and Caramelized Scallops. The halibut is hazelnut encrusted and served with a white chocolate beurre blanc sauce. The halibut was cooked perfectly. The hazelnuts added lots of texture but by itself didn't add much flavor as I expected. I was very reticent about the white chocolate beurre blanc sauce - particularly on a fish dish - but it's on the plate for a reason. It adds tons of flavor and gives the dish a slightly sweet (but certainly not cloying) profile. The Caramelized Scallops are out of this world. The interesting thing about these scallops are that they are topped with an apple chutney and a pumpkin beurre blanc sauce. Just fantastic. The pumpkin beurre blanc sauce is brilliant. I had a hard time believing pumpkin and seafood could coexist on the same plate but Chef Brown pulled it off. Simply delicious. A quick word about the steak. The strip steak was cooked as we requested (medium rare), but didn't quite have the flavor we were looking for. The steak tasted like it was slightly underseasoned. My guess is that it wasn't quite as good because the exterior of the steak was cooked just a touch past nicely browned, venturing into ever-so-slightly bitter territory. In fairness, we were VERY full by the time we got to the steak, but the steak was a B when everything else was an A- or better. The Friday Night dine-for-two special is in my opinion the best deal going in Cincinnati, not only for how much you get but for the quality of the food. For those of you who haven't been to Jag's in a few years I'd strongly recommend you give them a second look. A wonderful culinary journey awaits you.

Overpriced. The steak is priced like Ruby's but it doesn't even come close. Even Ruby's will allow you to bring in a special bottle of vino. Not so here. Basically, Jags is a "meat market" that also serves food. If they put as much attention into their food as they do their bar area, they would have something. The service was pleasant and not overbearing. Next time, Carlo and Johnny.

Here's where I learned that "business casual" means tight leather (or perhaps pleather, or even vinyl) short shorts with a tube top and stiletto heels. I'm not one to care too much about dress code, but if you're going to insist on it pretty prominently on your Web site, perhaps you could enforce it? We went on a Friday evening to their Lounge to listen to some music and perhaps partake of their 8.95 buffet (I did not; we ordered off the menu instead, but a friend of ours did get the buffet). I will say that our waitress was very nice and very attentive. She was one of the few positive aspects of the experience. I went here with high expectations, which I think the place encourages, and I was tremendously disappointed. From them not being able to make a Moscow mule (no ginger beer) to the people in jean shorts, pleather, etc., I just felt like I shouldn't be paying what was on the bill at the end. I had two drinks: the Georgia Peach and a Long Island Iced Tea. The Georgia Peach is on their martini menu; it was peachy but unremarkable. The Long Island was, well, you know what you're getting with a Long Island I suppose. The first item we had off the menu was very good - the calamari. That was the highlight for me. It was tender and lightly breaded. I thought it could be seasoned a bit more, but it was a good start. The artichoke and spinach dip did not taste very good. I'll skip providing you with the description I used at the restaurant. Finally, we went for the music, but I was a bit stunned that the performers are actually on top of the center of the bar; it's a really, really odd set up. I was kinda hoping they'd rotate around - now, that would be nifty. The whole experience reminded me of my cruise ship days. I liked the music, but not where they were located. So, all of you who "LOVE" Jags, you keep on loving it. I don't see us going back. Perhaps the restaurant is a lot better, but for the price you pay, you can find more appealing options elsewhere.

I can only review the food based on the Friday $5 buffet, which I have been to twice. Both times offered a variety of different foods, some better than others, but for $5 I can definitely understand the appeal. I also came when there was an 80s cover band performing, and they were charging cover. WTF? But okay, whatev. Anyway, we were able to find seats at the back bar and enjoyed the 80s tunes and drinks and dancing. This place appears to cater to older, wealthier men and cougars. But I would come back for the buffet every Friday if I lived in the area.

We LOVE Jag's. For a special occasion this is the place we head. Special occasions include a few anniversaries and my mom's 70th. The first time I went to Jag's it was not on my dime so naturally I had the Kobe Steak. Ridiculously priced? Perhaps, but goodness gracious it was delicious! Had I paid I would say it was worth every penny. It was even better since it wasn't coming out of my pocket. The first thing I noticed was sides are not a la carte. Yes, that is unusual for a steakhouse. You get veggies and a starch WITH your meal. Feel free to switch it up, too. If you see sides served with another main course they are happy to give you whatever you'd like. I was so impressed after that first visit that Jag's quickly became the place to go for our special occasions. Everyone that has joined us and including the two of us have had nothing but the most excellent and delicious meals. And if it is a special occasion the staff go out of their way to make the evening special. I LOVE the limo service, too. I've used it twice and it's worth every penny. It really isn't expensive and for super special evenings it's the perfect touch. I do tend to get the same main course, but there is one appetizer I can NOT miss - the Kobe Beef Tartar. I just checked the menu to make sure I had the name right and I'm frightened to see the menu entry is now called Raw Minced Filet Mignon + Onion + Seasalt + Parmesan + Cilantro + Truffle Oil + Crostinis. Don't get me wrong, it sounds very familiar, but Kobe could make a huge difference. I'm anxious to get there and find out if it's changed or if it is still Kobe and still as incredible as ever. Oh... ask for extra Crostinis. You'll need them. I've had great steak at lots of places, but Jag's is my top choice in Cincinnati.

Came here with a group from work. From the moment I walked in the service was terrible. I walked in and waited to get help for 4-5 minutes while the greeter was on the phone. Several other employees just sat and watched me wait. I got tired of waiting and just started walking around the restaurant until I found my party. Water was brought right away but after 20 minutes I finally had to stop the waiter and ask him to take my drink order. This went on for the evening. The saving grace was the sea bass which was excellent! Unfortunately food is only part of the experience. Rude wait staff is not what I expected. I will not return.

This spring's Restaurant Week brought us to Jag's for the first time. Our reservations were early in the evening (and on a Tuesday) so we were surprised that the parking lot was already jam-packed and the restaurant was full. 1st course: Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail: They really aren't kidding when they say "jumbo" shrimp. Each shrimp (there were 3) were about the size of a roll of quarters - possibly a little thicker. The cocktail sauce was excellent with a very nice spicy horseradish bite. It reminded me of eating a bunch of wasabi (well duh, since both are made of horseradish) but this was a different experience for me as most cocktail sauces are pretty mild. 2nd course: Crab Bisque: YUM!! The flavors were excellent. I felt like each ingredient really sang whereas many soups tend to have muddied flavors. It was a tad on the salty side but it was by no means a deal breaker. 3rd course: Filet Mignon (medium): I am very much a douse-the-steak-with-steak-sauce or gravy type of gal. I've been told that good steaks do not need such accompaniments and I FINALLY got to experience that today. The filet was exquisite both in flavor and texture. Outstanding all by itself - I was impressed! Service: Excellent. Everyone we encountered was friendly and courteous. Even though they were busy, our orders were taken promptly and the food arrived at perfect intervals. Overall: Two thumbs up! Great food, great service, and a great deal for restaurant week. We'll definitely be coming back even without the lure of restaurant week.

We live very close to Jag's and go to their bar often. The atmosphere is cozy and warm with tons of woodwork. They always have live music whether it's someone playing the piano or the weekend band. You can order anything on their menu from the bar, but they have great appetizers and sushi. Friday's between 5-7 they set up an AWESOME buffet for only $7. VERY NICE! The service is always professional, friendly and attentive. GREAT SERVERS & BARTENDERS! My only complaint would be that they have the same band every Friday and Saturday nights. The band does a great job, but the same music gets a little old. Jag's is a great place to hang out, eat, drink and people watch!!

This was a very mixed experience. The first course was really good - Tomato Bisque - it was tasty and very flavorful. There was also a great grilled cheese panini - it had spinach and tomato and multiple cheeses - and really really good! The second course was steak - which is their specialty - I mean - it's a steak house. Unfortunately - it wasn't good. The steak didn't even come CLOSE to Hugo! It was bland and a bit overcooked (I asked for medium rare and got medium). The mashed potatoes were fine - very old school. The third course was a chocolate brownie and homemade peanut butter ice cream. It was deccadent! Completely amazing!!!!! So - 2 good - 1 bad...bad #2 - the service. It was HORRIBLE! I almost think these restaurants think of Restaurant Week patrons as throw away - "they're just here for a deal" - they should be looking at us as "hey - here's a potential frequent customer!" Hopefully next time will be better service-wise.

My first dining experience in West Chester began at Jag's. Interestingly enough, I had heard excellent things about the seafood and steak restaurant, and was prepared to enjoy some good meat. On the outside, I knew the place had to be of quality because there was a special valet service for parking. On the inside, the restaurant was rather dimly lit and some complained about having trouble reading the menus. For dinner I skipped over appetizer and salad, and enjoyed a king filet with sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Needless to say, the meal was filling - mostly because I finished the plate of very serious mashed potatoes. Woke up the next morning still feeling a bit full!

There are several reasons to go to Jag's. For starters there's the location. It's in West Chester, and most of the really good steakhouses in Cincinnati are either downtown, in Montgomery, or somewhere that requires a decent drive for West Chester residents (I don't mind the drive TO those places, but the drive back after a giant meal of salad, seafood, steak, and a Maker's or two is less fun). Then there's the bar, which is frankly pretty awesome. And huge. And almost always packed with interesting people (yes, the cougar stories in other reviews are true). There's also usually live entertainment in there, it's very entertaining. The bartenders are also very pleasant and make the place fun (thanks Lauren!). It doesn't hurt that most of the people working here are of the young and attractive variety, either. The best thing about the place, though, is of course the food. Kobe beef is my weakness, and there aren't many restaurants in Cinci that offer it. Jag's does, and it is good. They also have what may be the best seared tuna appetizer I've had locally (it's not really even on the menu, you'll have to ask for it). The sushi here is among the best in the city, and the steaks are excellent as well. (Note: Jag's used to offer USDA Prime beef and has since switched to CAB. I have not had a steak since the switch, so I'll have to go back again to confirm everything is on the same level.) If you're hanging at the bar they have a lounge menu that is much more reasonably priced and no less delicious. You MUST try the New York Sandwich (a perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth tender NY strip on a baguette with provolone, fried onions, and horseradish cream), and the burgers are huge yummy mounds of moist beefy goodness (they're also super messy, so be prepared since you're likely going to be dressed nice). It's the fries that make the lounge meals so good, though, they're thin cut and tossed in a garlic herb mixture that is absolutely incredible, they're among the best fries I've ever eaten. They even have what they call their weekly "Office Party" on Friday nights from 5-7 where many of the young professionals in the area gather for drinks and a buffet menu that is always changing. It's only $8.95 and is worth at least double that, but make sure you get there early because they can and will run out of food. After that ends the bar gets packed with live music and dancing. All in all this is a wonderful place to have an upscale night out. It's not inexpensive, but it's definitely fun, and the food, drinks, and atmosphere make it worth the cost.

Was excited to try this place, but disappointed. Would much rather have had Precinct or Celestial. The sides were soaked in butter & salt. Asparagus medley was 3 spears, a bunch of carrots & a few peppers, drowning in butter & no seasoning. Baked potato was dry. Subbed out for a wedge salad but it cost another $3. Precinct or Celestial have a far better steak, atmosphere & servers I think. My husband had the salmon, boring & plain as well. Ugh. Quite the cougar bar scene here if you want to try & pick one up. I see it says 'Dressy' for attire, well we were the most dressed up & that wasn't our best. You know you're in the lame 'burbs when the server says 'What's an Americano?' REALLY???

    1. Had to send the wine back 2 times, it was corked. I don't think the lack of a wine cellar helps. Strange for an upscale steakhouse. 2. The steak is overpriced for the quality. It was tough and overcooked. After sending the wine back twice, I felt bad sending the food back so I just suffered through it. 3. I returned after the horrible experience because of a lack of options to find the hostess wouldn't seat us in the dining room. She said we can sit in the bar and eat. I don't want to sit in the bar I told her. She said, "Well there is a dress code for the dining room." WhaaaT? The BF was wearing nice Armani jeans, Armani hoodie, python shoes. Not to be a brand dropper, he was in jeans and a hoodie, but they were nice. I'm just sayin. I was wearing black pants and a top. Whoa, I was mad. Since when can't you wear nice jeans to what is supposed to be a decent restaurant? They should put one of those warning signs on the door. Instead of no shirt, no shoes, no service, it could read, "Warning fashion police! Will seat in bar at hostesses discretion." Last time I checked, this is West Chester.

I liked the restaurant but the prices are very high. The au gratin potatoes are excellent. The cheesecake was excellent. The service was good. However, my steak was supposed to be medium well (pink) and it was rare...very red. I would go again, but next time we are going to eat in the bar/lounge area which is a better atmosphere and I believe there is a cheaper menu available. The parking was awful...who builds a restaurant with such a tiny parking lot? We had to park at a bank and walk over. Valet is not necessary especially if they had a large enough parking lot. I think J. Alexanders is a better restaurant overall and they have ample parking, great food and lower menu prices.

I always thought it was a little funny that Jag's was considered a bit "controversial" when I lived in West Chester. Some thought it was fine dining at its best and others thought it was fake and pretentious. I can only speak for the food and the service, not the image. Everything I ever ate at Jag's was amazing. The berry side salad, the sushi, the tiger shrimp and most of the all the Chilean Sea bass. The drinks are pricey but you get what you pay for. Friday and Saturday night are a blast with live music and soccer moms getting down and dirty. I've had some pretty amazing food since I've lived in Boston, but Jag's still holds its own in my opinion. I would go for the tiger shrimp (a meal in itself) and Chilean Sea Bass personally.

If you love steak, sushi, fish, and great service, then you need to go to Jag's. their bone in filet will melt in your mouth and the au gratin potatoes are a must! If you like fish, you can't go wrong with the Chilean Sea Bass, tender and delicate. They also have a raw bar with an array of choices and an incredible sushi menu. The Kobe Roll is phenomenal! If you just want a small bite, they do have a bar menu as well. We love to sit at the bar and have dinner and chat with the bartenders. You will pay more here, but you definitely get what you pay for!! I think Jag's is ten times better than Ruby's. You don't have to order giant sides a la carte. Their steaks are more tender and seasoned so much better. You can also get an array of toppings for your steaks. Don't forget to get dessert as well!

Short review: If you want a good steak, there are far better choices I recently ate here with a large group of people, and can say that i was definitely disappointed on the whole. wine menu: top notch, no complaints whatsoever. appetizers: good to very good. the spinach artichoke dip was good, nothing special. the shrimp were as large as a small mammal and quite good...nice and firm. The jalapeno crab cake was really good soup: lobster bisque was excellent and surprisingly spicy. the best thing i had all night. salad: the winterberry salad was also quite good. things are looking pretty good so far...so why the 2 star review? Steak: oh sh!t, how can you be a steak place and not serve a good steak! I ordered the NY strip medium, my wife ordered the filet med well. My steak came out well done, her's was Med rare. I mean, come on, that is unacceptable! I'm not a 'send it back' kind of guy, especially because we were in a large group, so i thought i'd just power through it. I've had overcooked steaks before and still enjoyed them, but this one really sucked. The flavor wasn't there and it had absolutely no crust on it whatsoever. how do you cook a steak well done and not get a crust? was it microwaved? I thought for a second that i wandered int sizzler. 1 star desert: chocolate souffle and cheesecake were both quite good. overall, if you want a good steak, try any of the ruby establishments ( the Precinct being my favorite) or ruth's chris. Jag's is just entirely too expensive to screw up the main course like that. Now the bar, that is an entirely different type of 'meat market' and is definitely good for a few laughs. Although i must say, the drinks were reasonably priced!

I can't actually write a review of the food at this place, but I can speak to its ambiance and the quality of their martinis! A friend and I stopped in this past Friday, and I was pleasantly surprised. This is a "happening" little place. Large crowd. Fairly diverse in terms of ethnicity. Mostly people "of a certain age"...code word for "no baggy pants and half naked girls! Yea!" The band was really, really good -- played a broad spectrum of music ...all of which was perfect for dancing....had words you could understand!! Even more fab...the crowd was lose enough to actually dance. The martinis were good and rather inexpensive ...as was the cover charge ($5) and valet parking ($3). Overall, a terrific place to have drinks, dance, meet new people...enjoy a date...

I've only eaten at Jags twice, but must say, the food was excellent both times and the service was great. I can't remember a time that I've eaten so much food during a single sitting. The portions are generous and the bone in fillet was outstanding. I will definitely be back.

I've been to this restaurant twice and enjoy it as one of finer restaurants in Cincinnati (especially on the northern suburbs). Both times, I had steak (filets) that were cooked just as i liked them and weren't too salty or charred (like steaks at Red are for me). The calamari appetizer is amazing and very satisfying, where I enjoy both sauces that they provide. I think the creme brulee dessert is my favorite creme brulee I've tried in Cincinnati too. Restaurant is a bit dim, but it's part of atmosphere, where they have live piano player at bar on weekend evenings...I think it makes for a fun dining experience.

The first time we went to Jag's was as a part of Cincinnati Restaurant Week and we left feeling like we got a steal for our money! With such an elaborate and pricey menu, we expected our 3 course meal for $25 to be small plates and actually planned to go out afterward, but Jag's couldn't have treated us better! Not only did we get hole plates of food, but the service was incredible and they were very friendly and super accommodating for my dietary restrictions. Our waiter was an absolute doll and helped walk us through the menu and make wine suggestions. At the end of the meal we were all talking about how we should make Jag's a more regular "special occasion" splurge and we have! The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food and the service is impeccable. The plating is also gorgeous and they do a wonderful job of making your meal and experience. It's a great place to have a romantic date or celebrate something special with a group of people.

The pasta (Chicken Parma) was tasty but overly creamy. Calamari not too greasy. Crab Cakes were good with a cajun spin. The bar scene, from the waiting room, appeared lively. Wedge salad was typical and very good. I think it's too pricey for the quality and quantity, compared to similiar restaurants in L.A. and NYC.

The most pretentious restaurant on the planet. The food is good but very overpriced. I have been there twice and will not be going again unless someone else is paying the bill. We did try it once for lunch and the Kobe Hamburger(s) that we went for were not available that day. The evening meal, was one where we took our daughter and her husband out for a special anniversary dinner and the bill ended up at close to $350.00 for the four of us, yes we had lots of alcohol but that's ridiculous! Buyer beware!

I've been to Jag's around 4-5x and it has never disappointed me. Sometimes there is live music, and it can get a bit loud, but if that is what you want and planned for it, then it can be a great experience :D Jag's Tatare is AMAZING it's my favorite in all the city!! I haven't been there since i moved to Cincinnati, but every time I used to come down on business. Jag's was my spot! Scott brought up a good point.. i thought the tatar was Kobe and the website says steak.. I'm sure it's still good!! You should try there Bruschetta and Fried Blue Point Oysters- a real delight. For dinner, I usually get the Big Oscar,Bucheron, Kobe ( I LOVE KOBE!! had it in Japan and feel in love with it! Kobe- US is not the same as KOBE- JPN.. but still better than any US cut... my or my how tender and juicy!), or classic Filet Mignon. I wish there was a Jag's in the city!! I would eat there every other wknd if possible.

The price is even with any Steak restaurant in the country. It is not a la carte like most steak houses. You get a salad, a side, and your entree all for one price. I got the Black Truffle steak and it was the best steak I have ever eaten. really good, cooked perfectly. My co-worker got the Kobe beef steak. He said it was the best steak he ever had. The bar looked very nice a lively, with live entertainment on a Monday.
